The old adage holds so true when it comes to RC (radio controlled Vehicle) is the difference between men and boys are the price of their toys. These can be quite an expensive hobby but there are thousands of people that love the thrill of racing cars on the street and are not breaking any laws; and it is a lot safer than becoming a race car driver.
Fund with a radio controlled vehicle started about sixty years ago. Although back then we did not have the technology that we have today so the car was a bit crude in design and movement. Some of them could reach seventy miles an hour while others could maybe get up to thirty miles per hour. But whatever the speed it could go, it was still thrilling to watch and to participate in the play.
There are two different types of radio controlled cars; toy type RC’s which can be played with for hours on end by someone of any age. But once the parts start to give out there are no replacements. There is the radio control and the car itself. That’s it, nothing more to deal with when playing with an RC. Some people feel this is a great way to see if they want to invest more money for a hobby or just to have some fun on the weekend.
Then it comes to the ‘big boys’ remote controlled cars, these are the ones that cost a pretty penny but will last a very long time. This type has four parts basically; the power source, the car itself, a transmitter and receiver. Some have rechargeable batteries and some have gas powered engines. Then you have different types of remote controlled vehicle such as the touring kind, racing, trucks and buggies.
One nice thing about having fun with a remote controlled vehicle is you can pick the car you want. I think I would like to have a Lamborghinis, but many choose Porsches, Ferraris, pick up trucks or just a plain old car. You also have a choice of either gas or electric powered vehicles. The gas powered ones are much more expensive and with the price of gas today electric powered might be the way to go.
What you hold in your hand is called the transmitter; this allows you to actually control the steering by relaying the radio frequency to the receiver. There is an antenna and the circuit board that is inside the car itself. You can now buy kits of every car made almost; which many people do just for the enjoyment of putting their own remote controlled vehicle together, plus they can tweak it to fit their own personal tastes.
The most popular radio controlled vehicle is the on road vehicle, which allows you to cruise or race down any street that is safe. It can go on gravel, sand and concrete. Be safe and have fun with a radio controlled vehicle and watch as a crowd gathers.
